Expense tracker for Pakistan
SpentStory is a free expense tracker made for how Pakistan pays. Upload the PDF statement your bank already gives you and every expense is read, sorted into categories and added up in rupees. No bank login, no account linking, no SMS access.
Why does Pakistan need its own expense tracker?
Most expense tracker apps assume your bank connects to them automatically. For personal accounts in Pakistan that is rare, so the app ends up asking you to type everything or to hand over access you may not want to give. Local spending also looks different. A statement here is full of food delivery orders, mobile top ups, electricity and gas bills, ride hailing, kameti payments, transfers to family and plenty of ATM cash.
SpentStory starts from the one record every account holder already has, the PDF statement, and works from there.
How does it work?
- Download your statement as a PDF from your bank's app or website.
- Upload it to SpentStory. If the PDF has a password, type it in at the same step.
- Every expense is categorised and your dashboard is ready in seconds.
What does it recognise?
Expenses are sorted into 13 categories: Food & Dining, Groceries, Shopping, Subscriptions, Utilities, Health, Education, Travel, Charity, Finance, Transfers, ATM Withdrawals and Other. Familiar names like Foodpanda, Imtiaz Super Market, K-Electric, Ufone top ups, Shell, KFC and Netflix land where you would expect. If a line is not where you want it, change the category and it stays changed.
What do you see on the dashboard?
- Your total spent, and how it moved over the month.
- A category breakdown, so you can see whether food, shopping or bills took the biggest share.
- Your top merchants, with the same shop counted once even when the statement prints it several ways.
- Every transaction in a searchable list.

What about cash?
A lot of everyday spending in Pakistan is still in cash, and it never reaches a statement. You can add cash expenses and split bills by hand, and they appear next to everything from the PDF. For easy habits, read how to track cash expenses.
Is it safe to upload a bank statement?
You only share a PDF, never a login. The security page explains what is read, what is stored and how accounts are protected.

Yes. SpentStory is free to start. You upload your bank statement PDF and every expense is sorted into categories, with amounts in rupees. The free Basic plan covers the month you sign up and the month before.
Does SpentStory work with my bank?
It works with any bank that lets you download a digital PDF statement. It reads the PDF itself, so it does not need a connection to your bank.
Do I need to give my bank login or let it read my SMS?
No. There is no bank login, no account linking and no access to your messages. You only upload the PDF statement you already have.
Are amounts shown in Pakistani rupees?
Yes. Everything is shown in PKR, and the categories are built around everyday Pakistani spending.
Can I track cash expenses?
Yes. Cash and split bills never appear on a statement, so you can add them by hand and they sit next to the expenses from your PDF.
Is the app available in Urdu?
The app is in English today. We publish Roman Urdu guides, such as how to make a budget and how to track your kharcha, and plan to add more.
